We had just finished the Polar Dash 5k and headed 45 minutes away to the second race in downtown Indy. We had to park in a parking garage, no biggie. Then head over to the race area. It was quite congested with runners! My legs were already locking up, not wanting to really run again. But we got our packets and headed to the start line.
After the count down, we were off....again! The course was okay. It was downtown Indianapolis so the scenery was less than desirable. We ran past Lucas Oil Stadium then headed past some sub divisions and a few homeless people. My legs were tired, no lie. It wasn't the distance but the fact I ran 3 miles already then my legs had time to rest and tighten up. However, I just kept pushing on.
I finally saw the finish and pushed towards it. I had never felt so happy to cross a line than then. haha. I grabbed a water and a banana and waited for Matt and the rest of the group.
No real bells and whistles. Typical 5k. Started the year out with a bang!
So, the review of the event Resolution Run 5K:
Terrain - pavement, strictly road, sketchy in some areas as far as debris and environment
Organization - Organized fairly well, no concerns
Cost - $35 per person
Time of Race - 11:00am
Overall - it was okay, received a long sleeved shirt and a banana afterwards.
Award - none but proceeds went to Riley Children's Hospital
My Time 31.18
Race # - 2
