Race Review - Shamrock Shuffle 5K

The things we do to race.

Matt worked the night before, got home at 7am and we headed out for a 2 hour drive.  Yes, a 2 hour drive to run 3 miles.

We got there and it was freezing.  Seriously, it's March.  Where is the warmer weather?

Luckily there was a business (Scotty's Brewhouse) that sponsored the race and we could go in and stay warm.

It was a typical 5k.  It went through a nice neighborhood and was an out and back route.  Once we crossed the finish line, we were handed some bling (a nice, glittery medal that is a bottle opener), a glass and we were directed to go inside for a free beer (I opted for a soda).

Snacks after were pretzels and bananas.  They had a bowl of Lucky Charms but watching everyone reach in with their hands to grab some, turned me off.  No thanks.

Once Matt crossed the line, we headed out.  We didn't stay and hang around with our group this day due to Matt having to go back to work that night!  So, we drove the 2 hours back home.

Runners are a crazy breed!

So, the review of the event Shamrock Shuffle 5K:
Terrain - pavement
Organization - Mediocre, seemed like no one really knew what they were doing
Cost - $25
Time of Race - 10:00am
Overall - it was a okay, nothing really special about it
Swag - participation medal shaped that is also a bottle opener, tee shirt
My Time 30.41
